Hamilton Scientific installs 60 fume hoods and 120 laboratory benches in the 200,000 sq. ft. lab space at the Wisconsin Energy Institute & Consolidated Forensic Lab at the University of Wisconsin
De Pere, WI (PRWEB)
Hamilton Scientific of De Pere, Wisconsin recently completed the installation of 60 fume hoods and 120 laboratory benches in the 200,000 sq. ft. lab space at the Wisconsin Energy Institute & Consolidated Forensic Lab. The new, contemporary laboratory workstation design was developed in response to the customer’s request for utility access ease while simultaneously allowing for movable laboratory benches.
Hamilton Scientific adaptable workstations were specified with lockable casters, enabling users to easily move the units wherever horizontal workspace is needed. The 6′ wide movable workstations can support 1200 lbs. on the bench tops and are reinforced to accommodate heavy equipment including analytical instrumentation and lab equipment.
Other Hamilton Scientific product installations included the following:
- Movable workstations without bench tops, enabling users to bring lab utilities into equipment islands without obstructing premium floor space. This approach allows floor space be dedicated to a variety of analytical equipment including glove boxes and bio-safety cabinets.
- Hamilton Scientific movable island sink units meet the State’s stringent workstation island venting requirements for plumbing; thereby ensuring vertical pipes are not needed within an island.
- Ceiling interface panels (CIP) were integrated into 2′ x 2′ acoustical ceiling tile grids and inside the 11′ wide lab module with the utility panels located over vertical stanchions on movable carts. As workstations are moved laterally, the cord length accommodates the extension of the utility. This unique flexibility of the CIPs in the gridded tile allows the Wisconsin Energy Institute to add utilities over time and to have punch-out capabilities in the same CIP tiles or in replacement tiles.
